Preparing for your older years:

When I was in high school about 70+ years ago, my aunt Nora said to me in a Borgen’s Cafe booth in Westby, Wisconsin, “You know, Ruth, once you get out of high school, time goes so fast that, before you know, you are old.” Oh, how right she was!

I just turned 87, and although I can remember most of what happened in the intervening years, I am shocked at how fast the time went.

I started writing on Substack because I’ve learned a thing or two about how you can prepare for your older years, why you should, and some of the things you might face when you get there. Some of it isn’t pretty, but most is relevant to your future.

AND THEN, a more significant concern raised itself from my subconscious! In ignorance, we have wrecked our planet. This is even more important than growing old, so from now on, The Halleson Post will be more proactive in exploring ways that we can mitigate what is happening to the world in which we live.

AND THEN, I decided to tell my story about learning to handle the mental problems that have plagued me throughout my life just in case others have had similar inner issues and think they are alone. You’re not.
